Dracaena marginata is an attractive, stiff-leaved plant with colourful foliage that sometime called Madagascar Dragon Tree. This tree impressive as tall trees with multiple canes green leaves trimmed in dark red. Dragon plants are low-maintenance indoor plant well suited for offices and homes. As per NASA recommended list this is an excellent plant for removing harmful chemicals from the air.
Varieties of Dracaenas:
There are several varieties of dracaenas, which are follows
- Dracaena marginata Tricolor – Tricolor is the same as the original marginata except it has three colours in its leaves. A band of yellow separates the light green from the edged red stripes.
- Dracaena marginata Colorama – It has a much more vibrant red / pink coloration.
- Dracaena marginata Tarzan – It is much spikier and spherical, and as it grows has a very unique and alien look.
How to take care :
Light : This plant prefer medium light, direct sunlight will damage the leaves.
Water : Keeping the soil slightly moist is the best indicator of correct watering. During the winter, like most plants they need much less.
Soil : Dragon plants grow well in loose, well –drained potting mix soil.
Fertilizer : These plants are slow-growing plants, not require much fertilizer. Feed monthly in the spring and summer with well-balanced, liquid fertilizer is recommended.
